Consent
Your consent matters…
At Feed and Flow Clinic, we want you to feel informed, listened to and comfortable with every part of your baby’s care. That is why we ensure to listen to you and your needs, treat each case individually and make information available in different formats. All care we deliver in guided by you and your baby and we ensure you receive all the information needed to make truly informed consent.
Do I need to give consent?
Yes, we will explain what we are recommending and give you the opportunity to ask questions before providing care. Where you do not wish to proceed you are listened too and other treatment options are discussed. You can also take time to go away and think about your different treatment options. Written consent from the legal guardian is always gained prior to frenulotomy procedures.
Can I change my mind?
Yes you can withdraw your consent at any time.
If you change your mind during an appointment, simply tell your clinician. Prior to procedures we will pause or stop the care and discuss what you would like to do next. Consent cannot be withdrawn in retrospect once care has been delivered. If at any point prior to a procedure or care you are unsure please inform the practitioner and we will pause and discuss with you in more depth. We want you to feel safe, supported and in control of any decisions made for you and your baby.
Do I have to agree to everything?
No you can consent to some parts of care and decline others. We will respect your choices and make sure you understand your options.
Will saying no affect our care?
No your decision to decline or withdraw consent will not affect how you or your baby are treated by Feed and Flow Clinic.
What if I am unsure?
Please ask as many questions as you need. There is no pressure to agree, and we will give you clear information to help you make the decision that is right for you and your baby.
What if my circumstances change?
Consent is ongoing. If your baby’s needs change, new information becomes available or we recommend something different, we will discuss this with you and seek your consent again where appropriate.
What if I need extra support?
Please tell us if you have any communication, language or accessibility needs. We will do our best to make sure information is provided in a way you can understand. Please inform us of any reasonable adjustments you may need, in any way that is appropriate to you. There is also a designated box in the pre-visit questionnaire to highlight communication needs or extra support required.
